Locals call the central market “the old bazaar”. As they say, “they know everything in the old bazaar.” Never have a snack before going to the market, you won't be left hungry or thirsty. You will be allowed to taste everything you want to, so your taste buds will be happy. It is simply impossible to remain hungry and to leave without buying!
Also, you will enjoy a story about the history since the foundation of the Old Bazaar, and its invaluable contribution to the development of the city as the merchant capital of Southern Russia.
- General sightseeing tour of the city. From 1749, the city has made the way from the Temernik Custom House and the Fortress of Saint Dimitry of Rostov to modern residential districts. What did Rostov look like at the turn of the 20th century, where did the first tram run, how did the first cinema house operate?
The tour focuses on Rostov’s history, economy, everyday living, and culture. The hospitable and busy city, located on the high right bank of the Don River, is often called “Southern Gates of Russia”, “a port of five seas”, and now it is an official capital of the Southern Federal District and has an honorary title, the City of Military Glory.
The excursionists will have a walk along the beautiful embankment, visit Rostov’s main squares, see merchants’ mansions distinctive in their architecture, and the main church of Rostov – the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The tour runs along the streets of the former Armenian city of Nakhichevan, the tourists will visit memorial sites set up to commemorate events of the Great Patriotic War, and will have a trip from Europe to Asia – and back!
- Lunch consisting of traditional Cossack cuisine at a restaurant in the city’s center with tasting of wines made of indigenous Don grape varieties.
