The bust of the outstanding Armenian religious and political figure, Archbishop, the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Russia was inaugurated on September 18, 1999, to celebrate the 220^th foundation anniversary of Nakhichevan-on-Don.

The authors of the monument are a local sculptor David Begalov and an architect Svetlana Begalova.

This August the monument to the founder became municipal property and was transferred to the operational management of the Center for Preservation, Use and Popularization of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the city of Rostov-on-Don.

To date, the pedestal of the monument has been plastered and faced with granite slabs.
