The festival dates back to 1985. It comprises three large folk festivals based on Cossack folklore traditions. On the last Saturday of each summer month, it gathers thousands of people who are fond of songs about freedom.
Festival participants are folk choirs, companies of dancers and singers, vocal and folk music groups. Concerts will be held both on the main stage of the village and as individual open-air singing performances of music bands.
The festival program will traditionally open with a trade fair of souvenirs and an exhibition of handicrafts that will expose artisanal items made by craftsmen fr om the Rostov, Volgograd, Krasnodar regions and the Donetsk People’s Republic.
All the festival participants and visitors of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will be able to take part in an entertaining sports competition in the interactive area, wh ere all the volunteers will have a chance to get more familiar with amusements and games, display their courage, test their knowledge of Don Cossack traditions.
The festival is held in the Starocherkassk History and Architecture Museum Preserve, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
