MAKARONKA

The house at Ulitsa Vosemnadtsataya Liniya, 8 used to accommodate a large pasta factory, which belonged to Nalbandov, a merchant from Nakhichevan, and now it is home to MAKARONKA Art Space.

The idea to create an art cluster in this building emerged in 2012, when artists painted graffiti works on the walls of the former pasta factory during the contemporary art festival. After the festival, an art center was set up in the building. Artists from all over the country could exhibit their experimental artwork there. To preserve the building’s earlier history, the walls of the factory were hardly changed for opening of the creative space. The venue is steeped in history and incredible creative atmosphere.

Now MAKARONKA is synonymous with a large exhibition complex, several art studios, a cinema hall and a private theater, the Theater 18+, which stages modern plays in original interpretation. Prominent members of the art community of Rostov-on-Don and other Russian regions get together there.
