In Rostov, a competition called Art Stroll Through Parks has opened to celebrate the Year of Andrey Baykov, the progressive city mayor of the 19^th century. One part of it is an exhibition on the city's history and architecture. A place of honor is given to a portrait of the mayor who gave our city its water supply, street lighting, public transport, and numerous green recreational areas. It is in the shade of one of these parks that the next phase of the project — aimed at young artists — has unfolded.

The portrait of Rostov-on-Don's most progressive mayor occupies a prominent spot, greeting visitors right at the entrance to the NNN Gallery. Back in the 19^th century, the successful reformer Baykov ensured that our city had running water, sidewalks, and street lighting. The painting, by Honored Artist of Russia Nikolay Polyushenko, is dedicated to the Year of Andrey Baykov in the southern capital.
