Rostov-on-Don General Sightseeing Tour

Rostov-on-Don General Sightseeing Tour

It is a general sightseeing tour around Rostov-on-Don. From 1749, the city has transformed from the Temernik Custom House and the Fortress of Saint Dimitry of Rostov into modern residential districts. What did Rostov look like at the turn of the 20th century, what were names of its streets, where did the first tram run, how did the first cinema house operate? The tour focuses on Rostov’s history, economy, everyday living and culture. The hospitable and busy city located on the high right bank of the Don River is often called “Southern Gates of Russia”, “a port of five seas”, and now it is an official capital of the Southern Federal District and has an honorary title, the City of Military Glory. Young excursionists will have a walk along the beautiful embankment, visit Rostov’s main squares, see merchants’ mansions distinctive in their architecture and the main church of Rostov – the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The tour runs along the streets of Nakhichevan, a former Armenian city, and includes memorial sites set up to commemorate events of the Great Patriotic War.
