Central Market:

The historical center of Rostov – Central Market (Old Bazaar) – is the oldest city’s formation. Located at the intersection of the two most important roads, it gave birth to the city. The Fortress of St Dimitry of Rostov set up in 1761 only speeded up development and growth of the market, as well as construction of residential and accompanying buildings near it. At the central market of Rostov-on-Don you can find practically everything, for example, fresh meat, poultry, fish, sausages, smoked products, salo (cured slabs of fatback), home-made dairy products, semi-prepared food,local fruits and vegetables, greens, herbs, oils, spices and many other things. Beside food products, the market offers consumer goods, clothes, footwear, fancy goods.  In recent years, the Central Market is under continuous construction and restoration.
