Monument to K. Marx

There is a monument to Karl Marx in Rostov-on-Don. It was first installed in 1925 on the same pedestal that had been used for a monument to Catherine II, before the Soviets came to power. During WWII, Hitler’s troops ruined the monument, as they entered the city, they tank-gunned it at a point-blank range. The monument that   now stands on the city’s square was opened in 1959 and created by M. S. Altshuler and M. A. Minkus. The figure was cast in bronze in Leningrad and transported by train.
