Memorial Sign to Commemorate Signalers Perished to Defend their Motherland during Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945

A monument to commemorate signalers who perished to defend their Motherland during the Great Patriotic War was officially opened in Sholokhov Avenue, Rostov. In Autumn 1919, a signal section was formed. The inauguration of the monument in Rostov-on-Don  is timed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this event.

The inscription on the monument’s base says: “In memory of the army signalers who perished to defend their Motherland during the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945”. For the feats they had committed during the war, 304 people were given a title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, 133 were made full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory, hundreds of thousands of signalers and 645 signal units received combat orders and medals. Residents of the Rostov region N. Vorobiyev, I. Omelchenko, F. Fak and N. Gulimov are among these real heroes.
