Memorial to Defenders of the Rostov Sky

Not far from the Airport in Sholokhov Avenue, there is the Monument to Defenders of the Rostov Sky, a memorial to commemorate air force pilots who fought against the enemies for freedom of the People and the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. 

The monument was set up in 1972. It is a stele 35 meters high with a figure of the MiG-15 aircraft on its top.

Aviators Park and another monument to defenders of Rostov-on-Don are located near the monument. The Monument to Defenders of the Rostov Sky is one of significant memorials set up to commemorate feats and valor of the heroes who had fought in the Don land during the Great Patriotic War.
