Monument to Yuri Gagarin

The monument to the first cosmonaut fr om Earth Yuri Gagarin is located on Gagarin Square, in front of the building of Don State Technical University.
Yuri Gagarin visited the region in June 1967 and managed to come only to Rostov-on-Don and Veshenskaya stanitsa, wh ere he met М. А. Sholokhov. To celebrate this event, a bust was inaugurated in 1977 in Rostov, on the square that was named after him.
Its author is sculptor Lev Kerbel.
