Building of the Moskovskaya Hotel
The building of the Moskovskaya Hotel is a remarkable example of eclecticism of the 19th-20th centuries, it is one of the major architectural landmarks of the city. After it was built, the building became a city-forming element and set a style for development of the street.
Before the October Revolution, the building housed the city’s most upscale hotel – the Moskovskaya Hotel. The hotel boasted hot water heating, baths, lifting devices and a French restaurant, which occupied an outside balcony above the central entrance.
During the Great Patriotic War, the building was almost completely ruined, it was later restored with some changes. Nowadays, like one hundred years ago, it houses the Moskovskaya Hotel, and the building is one of the most beautiful attractions of the city.
