Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904), a writer, a universally accepted classic of world literature.
He was a native of the town of Taganrog and a physician by profession. During 25 years of his creative work, he created about 900 works: short novels, plays, humorous stories. His works are translated into more than 100 languages. He had several dozens of pennames, such as “Man without a Spleen”, “My Brother’s Brother”, “Doctor without Patients”, “Antosha Chekhonte”.
His best-known works are “The Seagull”, “Three Sisters”, “The Cherry Orchard”, “The Man in a Case”, “Ward Number Six”.
