Rostov Regional Museum of Natural History, located in the capital of Southern Federal Territory, is one of the largest in the South of Russia, it is a participant and award-winner of “Intermuseum” festivals of 2001 and 2002. If you want to see the biggest ever beluga fished out in the Don river, stand motionless of admiration watching golden jewellery of proud Amazons, plunge into the authentic culture and history of the Don Cossacks, stroll along the main street of Old Rostov – Bolshaya Sadovaya (Big Garden) Street, visit the Music saloon of late XIX – early XX cc., listen to the voice of street organs made in Rostov, reflect on the tragic destiny of “red” and “white” commanders of Russian Civil War, learn about the peculiarities of the New Economic Policy (NEP) in the Don region, incline your head in the memory of soldiers and civilians perished during the Great Patriotic War, acknowledge yourself with the modern life of Rostov Region – you are mostly welcome to the museum.                          

Collections of the museum, counting over 375 thousand of exhibits of history and culture of the Don region from paleontology till today, possess scientific and historic value and cause persistent interest of researchers and visitors. The museum collections were demonstrated with great success in Japan, Switzerland, Scotland, France, Germany, and Poland. Since 2001 out museum is a member of the Museum Union of Russia.
