Dovator Lev Mikhailovich (1903-1941) – a Soviet military Commander, Brigadier General, the Hero of the Soviet Union.
In July 1941 Dovator L.M. was awarded an order of the “Red Banner” for high class commanding on the Solovievsky crossing through Dnepr.
In August 1941 Dovator L.M. took command over the Separate cavalry group, formed from the 50th and 53d cavalry divisions. The group made a raid behind the enemy lines on the territory of Smolensk region, heading 100 km inside the enemy territory and having destroyed 2500 German soldiers, 9 tanks, and more than 200 cars and several storehouses. Hitler made a big reward for Dovator L.M.’s head and created special squads to catch him.
Cavalry regiments of Dovator L.M. were guarding the roads to Moscow in Volokolamskoye direction.
On 11th of December 1941, the second guard cavalry group of Brigadier General Dovator was redeployed in Kubinka region. It went 150 km through the enemy territory chasing retreating troops of the enemy. During the recognition of enemy positions he was fatally wounded. At the same day the Cossacks managed to surround the village of Palashkino and destroyed an important hub of enemy’s defense. On the 21st of December 1941 Dovator L.M. was posthumously awarded with a rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

Июль 1941 года - Доватор Л.М. за отличие в оборонительных боях на Соловьёвской переправе через Днепр награждён орденом Красного Знамени.
В августе 1941 года Доватор Л.М. возглавил Отдельную кавалерийскую группу, сформированную из 50-й и 53-й кавалерийских дивизий. Соединение совершило рейд по тылам противника на территории Смоленской области, углубившись на 100 км и уничтожив свыше 2500 немецких солдат, 9 танков, более 200 боевых машин и несколько складов. Гитлеровское командование назначило за голову Доватора Л.М. крупную денежную награду и создало специальные отряды для его поимки.
Кавалерийские полки Доватора Л. М. защищали подступы к Москве на Волоколамском направлении.
11 декабря 1941 года 2-й гвардейский кавалерийский корпус генерал-майора Доватора Л.М. был переброшен в район Кубинки. 150 км он шёл по тылам противника, преследуя их отступающие части, и 19 декабря вышел к реке Рузе. При осмотре позиций противника Доватор Л.М. был смертельно ранен. В этот день казаки его корпуса смогли окружить деревню Палашкино и разгромили важный узел обороны врага. 21 декабря 1941 года Доватору Л. М. посмертно было присвоено звание Героя Советского Союза.
