Borko Street

Ethel Abramovna Borko (1897—1919), a revolutionary and an underground activist during the Civil War in Russia.
After she entered the Don University in 1916, E. A. Borko established contacts with the Rostov Bolshevik underground organisation and fulfilled a number of important assignments of the Party. She spoke out at the First Congress of Soviets of the Don republic.
In May 1919, E. A. Borko was arrested in her house at Vorontsovskaya St 74 (now Baumann St 64) and was put into Rostov prison.
The sentry from the watch tower shot her dead in prison cell No. 23 on 19 August 1919. The grave of E. A. Borko at the Jewish Cemetery of Rostov-on-Don is a monument of federal significance.


Борко Этель Абрамовна (1897—1919) — революционерка и подпольная активистка времён Гражданской войны в России. Поступив в 1916 году в Донской университет, Борко Э.А. установила связи с ростовской большевистской подпольной организацией и выполняла ряд ответственных партийных поручений. Выступала с трибуны Первого съезда Советов Донской республики. В мае 1919 года Борко Э.А. была арестована в своем доме на Воронцовской улице № 74 (ныне улица Баумана, 64) и была помещена в Ростовскую тюрьму. Была убита 19 августа 1919 года в тюремной камере № 23 выстрелом часового с вышки. Могила Борко Э.А. на Еврейском кладбище Ростова-на-Дону является памятником федерального значения.
