Fans not Allowed to Have Umbrellas at FWC 2018 Matches

CEO of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organizing Committee Aleksey Sorokin announced that selfie sticks would be allowed at the stadia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, while visitors would not be able to bring stick umbrellas to the arena.

“We advocated selfie sticks. There were many questions about stick umbrellas – they are definitely not allowed to take with you, as they are on the restricted list.  Folding umbrellas no more than 25 cm long are the limit. Everybody remembers a well-known French comedy about many people killed on account of a stick umbrella (The Umbrella Coup),” says Sorokin.
