On May 20, 2022, at 11am, the exhibition will be formally opened at the Sholokhov Center of the Sholokhov State Museum Preserve (125/69 B. Sadovaya Ul.). The exhibition will expose lives of ancestors and relatives of the famous Russian writer as seen through the lens of development of Zaraysk, from a military fortress, which defensed the borders of the Moscow State. to a major merchant town.
The exhibition’s high point is a genealogical tree of the Sholokhov family: from forefathers, who were cannon founders, up to Mikhail Sholokhov, who was native to the Don land, but never forgot about his roots and, in his writing, united these two distinctive cultures – cultures of Zaraysk and Don, which are so alien to each other.
The exhibition works from May 20 through August 7, 2022.
