On March 19, 2016, the Boeing 737 of Flydubai airline crashed. 62 people were on board the aircraft during the flight from Dubai to Rostov, all of them perished. In 2017, a memorial Aborted Flight was inaugurated in the old airport. It features three columns and a plate with engraved names of the victims. A sculpture of a fallen bird is next to it. It was repaired to preserve its technical state.
