Bust of S. M. Budyonny

At the intersection of Pushkinskaya Street and Budennovsky Avenue, there is a bronze bust of S. M. Budyonny. It was officially inaugurated on April 26, 1966. Its authors are sculptor E. V. Vuchetich and architect I.I. Loveyko. Semyon Mikhailovich Budyonny (1883-1973) was Marshal of the Soviet Union (1935), who was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union three times (1958, 1963, 1968). During the Russian Civil War, he was Commander of the 1st Cavalry Army (1919-23). During the Great Patriotic War (in 1941-42), he was Commander-in-Chief of the Southwestern and North Caucasus Directions, Commander of the Reserve and North Caucasus Fronts. He was one of organizers of mass purges in the army in the 1930-40s. Memoirs: Life’s Journey (Books 1-3, 1958-73). The bust is a reminder of the people’s feat in the fierce fight with the enemy and what a true Man is like.
