The fountain is located in Druzhinnikov Square, near Sokol Mall in Stachki Avenue. Locals call this place a square of three birds, as there used to be a cinema called “Sokol” (which means “falcon” in English), a police office nicknamed “Black Raven”, and a café called “Chayka” (which means “seagull” in English), hence, the nickname of the square originated.
The fountain is a composition of five “dandelions”. In the warm season, many people have a rest sitting on the benches around the fountain. The unusual forms of the fountain look good in photos, that’s why passers-by and visitors are fond of taking photos with these “dandelions”. Dandelions Fountain is a gem of Druzhinnikov Square.
Beside the fountain, there is a distinctive monument in the square, it is a three-meter high globe, mounted at the expense of the businessman V. Babushkin. The monument is very popular among those who live or visit Rostov-on-Don. It is unique for the city. The globe is about 2.5 meters in diameter. The monument is equipped with a plate reminding that Russia is the world’s largest country.
