Specifics of Having Tea in Nakhichevan-on-Don, a Video Tour

A new video tour tells you about traditions of having tea, which existed in this city. Special attention is paid to the role of the Russian samovar in everyday living of local residents, all family members and guests gathered around it. Tea selection was an essential part of a tea party: brick tea or tea sold by weight, classical one or with fruit or flower additions. A tea making method and a selection of tableware depended on the tea blend. It was traditional for residents of Nakhichevan-on-Don to have a tea drink humorously called kalmychok. Treats were served for tea: several kinds of home-made jam, biscuits, traditional sweet baked goods, honey, butter for Kalmyck tea.
