The excursion program to the Botanic Garden

The Botanic Garden of the Southern Federal University is a unique pocket of nature in our city. During 75 years of its existence, the Botanic Garden turned into one of Russia’s largest educational, resource, informational and cultural centers. Currently, its area is over 160.5 hectares with versatile relief, soils and vegetation. The unique monument of nature within the million-plus city boundaries is remarkable for over 6,500 varieties of trees, bushes and herbs growing there. 

Its four greenhouses with a total area of 1,064 sq. m boast a collection of tropical and subtropical plants from different parts of Africa, Southeast Asia, Central and Southern America, Australia and New Zealand, it is the largest in the south of Russia and counts over 1,000 species, varieties, cultivars and forms from 85 families.

During the excursion, visitors will learn about the collection of tropical and subtropical plants, interesting plants in the arboretum and on the central grounds, a collection of butterflies!

There is also a special tour for guests – Environmental Path – with stops, rest breaks and interesting stories.
