The Rostov Museum of Cosmonautics

The Rostov Museum of Cosmonautics

The Rostov Museum of Cosmonautics enjoys huge popularity among those who are fond of stars and space expanses.

The museum is well-stocked with exhibits. They include personal belongings of cosmonauts, navigation aids of rockets and modules, themed photos, books and other press products, coins, stamps, awards, archive documents and various models of space vehicles. They also display samples of food for pilots, tin tubes and plastic pockets to keep them. The total number of exhibits is over 400 items.

The central place of the exhibition is the descent module Soyuz TMA-10 of the 15th human spaceflight mission to the International Space Station. The Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities gave it to the museum, and it was restored and reequipped to serve as a simulator that can simulate various manned spacecraft maneuvers. It is the only functioning model in the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation.

Beside touring the exhibition halls, the visitors have a chance to feel the comfort of the lodgment, where cosmonauts are positioned during the launch and landing, make a virtual space flight and watch a documentary about people’s life and work in the space.
