The Rostov regional Museum of Pictorial Arts is located at the city historical center, at one of the most beautiful city streets street Pushkinskaya. The old mansion with a forge fence was constructed by a well-known Rostov architect N.A. Doroshenko in 1898 and belonged before the revolution to the Vladikavkaz Railway Administration lawyer A.A. Petrov.

The Museum of Don Cossacks History is one of the oldest museums in the South of Russia. It was opened owing to the Don old times fancy initiative, November 22, 1899. The museums first director was Khariton Ivanovich Popov. The building was constructed especially for the museum purposes by the academic of architecture A. Yatshenkos project.

The Ataman Palace was erected in Novocherkassk by the academic of architecture I.O. Valprede's project in 1863, as the official residence of the Don Cossack Army Atamans. The palace interiors feature luxurious decoration, as the palace was intended to welcome the royalties during the visits at the Don land. The first royal visitor within the palace walls was Prince Nikolay Alexandrovich.
