Sculptural Composition Stepan Razin and his Retinue
The image of the famous ataman Stepan Razin has long been the subject of many legends and attracted attention of many artists. S. T. Konenkov, People's Artist of the USSR, and architect L. M. Loban were ones of those who got down to designing the monument to the ataman. Konenkov did not live to see the monument mounted, but he was the author of its wooden project. The monument is a composition of seven sculptures, portraying Stepan Razin, a Persian princess and five loyal members of his retinue standing in the boat. All the sculptures were made of concrete at a local plant.

The monument to Stepan Razin and his loyal retinue was installed on June 5, 1972 at the embankment of Rostov-on-Don not far from the Sedov Nautical School.
