The history of its origin evidences the traditions of charity of Rostov merchants. In 1813 merchant A. Yaschenko was the first to bequeath his land plot for arrangement of the city garden and then the others followed his examples. Right since the middle 19th century the local press admired the beauties of the new City garden with robinias, ash trees, poplars, bird cherry trees, tamarisks, jasmine and lilacs planted. The park still remains the unique flower carpet of Rostov: each year 800 plants are set on a square meter of soil! At the park entrance there is a geographical sign of the “city center”. It may tell the distance from Rostov to various cities of the world like Paris, Rio-de-Janeiro or New-York…
