Musical Fountain at the City’s Embankment:

At the city’s Embankment, you can see a dancing light-and-music fountain, Petrovsky. The fountain shoots 105 water jets that constantly change their height, producing stronger or weaker sprays, which creates an original water dance. Petrovsky Fountain is the only splash fountain in Rostov, a fountain without a basin. To be exact, the basin to collect water is not visible, but hidden under the ground. The fountain has a flat tiled area with metal grilles that let water under the ground. The water gets into canals, where it is cleaned, filtered, and then it gets back to the surface in jets. The fountain is capable to perform a dozen of different variations of water-and-light dances. The show is accompanied with quiet music. Melodies continue from one minute and a half to three minutes and a half. In the daytime, the fountain looks magnificent, but at night, viewers can expect a true light-and-music show. As it gets dark, the fountain is illuminated with red, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and turquoise lights. A computer automatically controls the fountain. The fountain’s creators took care of viewers who are afraid of getting wet, as the fountain is equipped with a sensor that makes sprays lower in case of strong wind gusts, for passers-by not to get drenched with fountain sprays. However, when it is warm and hot, locals never mind to freshen up there, as it is specifically designed for bathing. The vibrant, musical and refreshing fountain is located in the heart of the embankment of the River Don and cannot leave you unmoved.

The fountain operates every day from 10 a.m. until midnight. And the light-and-music shows are given on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 1 p.m.; from 3 to 4 p. m., from 6 to 7 p.m., from 9 to 10 p. m.
