Sholokhov Center of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum Preserve
The Sholokhov Center of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum Preserve is a venue for major exhibitions and cultural and educational projects in the Southern Federal District.
It is located in Rostov-on-Don, in an old mansion – the House of the Martyn Brothers, built in the center of the former Fortress of St Dimitry of Rostov, which is an important part of historical Rostov. The building is a remarkable sight of the city, a terrific monument of the late 19th century, enjoying historic and architectural importance.
In 2007, the mansion was given in the critical condition to the M. A. Sholokhov Museum Preserve, from 2008 to 2014, it was restored and got its historical appearance. And on May 22, 2015, to celebrate the 110th anniversary of M.A. Sholokhov and the Year of Literature in Russia, the Sholokhov Center was officially opened, and it started its work with the exhibition, Traces of the good old Cossack days…, from the collection of the world’s largest museum – the State Hermitage Museum.
The multimedia hall hosts lectures, museum workshops, meet-the-artist sessions, themed nights.
