Monument to Chernobyl Disaster Liquidators (Clean-Up Workers) at Sholokhov Avenue

The act of valor of the rescuers was memorialized 30 years after the tragic disaster. Sculptor Sergei Isaev made a soldier, standing on the sphere -- the globe, the central figure of the monument. Flame, which breaks free from destroyed nuclear power-plant, is burning under his feet and burns his uniform shirt. At the right side of the monument there is a bell hung on human hands, which are supported by 48 more hands rising from the ground level. The hands symbolize 24 thousand men directed from Rostov Region for liquidation of breakdown aftereffects. At the left side there is an atom – three circles with rotating balls. It is a reminder to the descents, that peaceful atom mistreated might cause a technogenic disaster.
