Lecture Crimea in the History of Russia

The lecture is about a substantial period in the history of the Crimean Peninsula going back to the 10th century up to the present time, with a special focus on events of important historical value for Russia.

In different time periods, Crimea was called Tauris, Taurica, Taurida. A huge number of historical and cultural monuments survived on the peninsula. In present-day Sevastopol, there is an archeological monument – Chersonesus, an ancient Greek polis, which mas mentioned in old Russian chronicles as Korsun, and now it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
